Wired network management missing from Gnome-settings 47.1.1 (i.e. the default setting

I am not seeing any wired network controls either in the "quick settings" panel when I click the top right of my desktop or in the "network" section of the settings app if I click on the cog wheel. Am I doing something wrong? I am sure it was there before as I used to regularly enable and disable it to ensure my speed tests were checking wifi v. wired etc. I am on Plucky, updated daily from the main server, but that may not be the cause.
To err is human, but not uniquely so.

I am on Plucky at the moment and the Wired settings are still present. I am connected by Ethernet cable. But the controls should still be there even if an Ethernet cable is not plugged in.

It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.
