Hello, I recently got back into using Ubuntu, and I visited my account. My old account is separate from the new one, which was created despite having the same email address. Is there any way I can merge them or just keep my old account linked? I understand that this question was asked previously, but its nature is unique for each case. I am willing to do whatever I need, but there is no need for two accounts, and I prefer to keep the older one as it has a more accurate date that reflects when I started dabbling in Linux/Ubuntu. My email address is owners4life5@gmail.com, and my old username is owners4life5. Whenever I log into Ubuntu One, it says that my email is also owners4life5@gmail.com and that my username is owners4life51. I am asking for the best possible solution, as I only want one account. It would be great if they could be merged, but I understand if this isn't possible. What steps do I need to take to fix my issue? I appreciate any help you can provide. Brian J Daniels
There is an owners4life5 forum account, with the last activity recorded as January 2013. There is no account in the forum database with the username owners4life51. However, that is all moot. Did you not see the large blue banner at the top of this and every page? This site is closing down to new activity very soon and is destined to become a read-only archive only. All support activity that this forum existed for is moving over to Ubuntu Discourse, and a significant number of our members have already moved there. The support and help section of Ubuntu Discourse will be the re-invigorated ubuntuforums. In the circumstances there really isn't much point in fiddling about with forum accounts that soon will be effectively non-functional. If you want to join in with what was the forums community, you are best advised to do so on Discourse. https://discourse.ubuntu.com/ There will be a lot of the same people there. You simply log into Discourse with the same Ubuntu One SSO account that you use for login here, but be warned: you have two Ubuntu One accounts. Choose wisely! Having two Ubuntu One accounts has caused problems here with account confusion, and no doubt the same will happen on Discourse. Thankfully, that will not be my headache. \o/ Another advisory. You will be able to post in the support and help section straight away, but other parts of Discourse will be closed to you until you gather some credit, or whatever they call it over there, by reading posts, reading the rules and doing what anyone should do on a new platform, but which so few people do, which is to get acquainted with the site. Good luck!

Hey I appreciate you taking the time and effort to answer this despite the many changes fixing to happen, thank you for your time. I guess I didn't take the time to read the big blue banner, tee hee whoops I suppose I will not worry about any of this, and move on to the Discourse. Good luck to you as well!
Just for the record in case I've misled anyone reading this thread.
