    Help with mouse question

I'm probably going to sound dumb asking this since I'm not even sure this is related to Ubuntu but can someone tell be how I'm activating the 'grab' thing (see image below), some kind of copy/drag/lock ?? - with my mouse? I'm using Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS on an old MacBook Air and a Magic Mouse II. The app is Microsoft Edge. I've never seen this in Windows.

    Re: Help with mouse question

It happens automatically. When the mouse pointer moves over a link the shape of the pointer changes to a hand with the index finger pointing up. It isn't actually a "grab thing." Try moving the pointer to the top of an application window. The pointer shape does not change. Now left click the mouse and you will have grabbed the application window and you can move the application.

It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

Thanks for your note but that's not what's happening. It's happening when I inadvertently click on something (I guess?? as I don't really know what's causing it) and it 'grabs it' and it become a 'drag'. If you look at the pix I attached, there's no 'finger'. The only way to get rid of it is to hit 'esc' which 'releases the drag.

    Re: Help with mouse question

I've done some more investigation. So, if I click on a link and hold the mouse button down it turns into a drag - nothing weird there. But what's happening in my case is some how that click is locking and remains in 'drag mode' when I elease the mouse. So, what am I doing that causes the drag to lock on - it would be a really useful feature if i coud figure out how to activate it - on purpose.
