    Recommend disk operating system

    Hello!

Is there Linux distribution in existence where a third party cannot write new information on my disk without my consent?

In other words, I'm looking for Linux based disk operating system where you cannot get a system message like "Firefox was updated, you can reopen it now".

    Thank you!

That's normal. You can disable Firefox autoupdates in settings

What do you mean by "third party" ? The updates happen when your computer goes looking for them. You just have to take control of when it does. Admittedly, for snaps - and Firefox comes as a snap by default - this is not so easy because by default the snap background process goes looking for updates four times per day and does the updates in the background without telling you about it, but the documentation for snap has a page about controlling updates.

    What version of Ubuntu?

Is this the only message you are referring to? If not, what other applications are showing messages that concern you?
