Dear ubuntu Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to report a persistent issue I have encountered with the keyboard layout switching feature in ubuntu. I have configured my system to switch between English and Persian languages using the Alt + Shift keyboard shortcut. However, I have noticed that while switching from English to Persian using the right Alt + Shift works correctly, switching back from Persian to English does not respond to the right Alt + Shift. Instead, I need to use the left Alt + Shift to switch back to English. This inconsistency in keyboard layout switching is quite inconvenient, as it limits my ability to seamlessly transition between languages. I would appreciate it if you could investigate this issue and consider providing a fix in a future update. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and for your continuous efforts in developing Linux Mint. Best regards, wats
I would appreciate it if you could investigate this issue and consider providing a fix in a future update. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and for your continuous efforts in developing Linux Mint. Best regards, You misunderstand the nature of this forum. This is a user help forum. That means that not only do we try to help users but we are users ourselves. We are not technicians. Some of us may be programmers but few, if any of us, are employed as developers of Ubuntu. I will go further. Ubuntu developers who are employees of the sponsor of Ubuntu (Canonical) are not paid to develop Linux Mint. The development of Linux Mint (including the fixing of bugs) is completely independent of the development of Ubuntu. Have you examined the Persian keyboard layout? I could be that the right Alt key is a dead key or assigned to do something else. Regards
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things. Ubuntu user #33,200. Linux user #530,530
Mint is not Ubuntu. The Mint developers use Ubuntu as a base for Mint, which has many significant differences. Furthermore, as grahammechanical has said, this is an end-user forum and not the place to contact developers. In case the OP returns I have moved this to our Mint sub-forum in the Other OS Support section, but anyone seeking help for Mint is advised that Mint has its own forum at https://forums.linuxmint.com/ . I believe that this is a drive-by poster and unlikely to return, so I suggest that those members who are inclined to suggest remedies wait to see if the OP comes back and responds before possibly wasting their time with support that might not be read.
