Ubuntu VM Screen flickering

I am running Ubuntu as a Virtual Machine in Virtualbox with a host machine Manjaro OS.


The screen on the VM flickers especially when I move it to the corners.


I have read something about disabling Wayland but I don’t know how to do that and whether it is something you do in the host or guest OS.

In Ubuntu there's a small dropdown menu on the login screen with options for Wayland and X.

What is the label of the dropdown menu? Is this something I do before OR after bootup of Ubuntu?

It's usually a little icon with a picture of a gear on the login screen where you input your password.

There is no gear icon on the login screen. Please see the uploaded image.

As soon as you click on the "user" bar it will then show it.
