after my first post was jailed because of "profane language", let's do it again without it. The Upgrade to 24.0.1 has serious issues. Half of the system got deinstalled: - nivida driver -kde -cups -hplib -grub for a "nomal" user this would be the end of the story and he would not be able to recover his system to a working state again. since i am with linux since 1998 , i got this. many 3rd party software developers dont have any updated versions yet, like hplip, which is not able to work without gconf2 at the moment. so if you update your system, you are not able to print anymore if you got HP printers and like to FAX or Scan. hplip-check: warning: ubuntu-24.04 version is not supported. Using ubuntu-23.04 versions dependencies to verify and install... same is for many other vendors (like banela etcher and so on) and i simply can't get it, that this update is released without testing this. this is ridiculous. then, why did u change the permission of apparmor for the file system ? ( kernel.apparmor_restrict_unprivileged_userns=0) and last but not least : SNAP. <snip>, i am so annoyed by that, i can't tell. so it's the point reached to leave ubuntu, because for desktop it was easy fun and nice new packages, a fire and forget installation. well, that ended today. Too much work to be done, if you have to recover that failed upgrade. Then i can go back to gentoo for server and debian for desktop. this windows style upgrade and bring "new features" also in windows style, is not why i am working with a linux system.

Oh dear, you do seem to be tripping over some issues about using a forum effectively. Let me try to help you. First - you posted this (and the predecessor posts) in the Installation and Upgrades sub-forum, which is a support sub-forum, clearly described as such in the sub-forum strapline: For questions about upgrading and installation of your new Ubuntu OS. Apart from one semi-rhetorical question, which does not belong here (see below), I cannot see any technical support question, rather a prolonged cross between a rant and a whinge. So I have moved your post/thread to a more appropriate location - Ubuntu, Linux and OS Chat. Next: Originally Posted by fw114 then, why did u change the permission of apparmor for the file system ? Who are you addressing? Who is the "u" in that sentence? The membership of this forum, staff included, are all end-users such as yourself. We are all volunteers. None of us work for Canonical. We are not responsible for the development of Ubuntu. That is why rants such as yours are so offensive to the wider membership. No one here cares if you go back to whatever distro is going to annoy you next. If you want to whine, find somewhere else. In the meantime, if you have a genuine technical question you are welcome to ask it. Respectful and constructive discussions are also welcome. Negativity and misplaced complaints are not welcome.

Well, u can use my post to solve the issues / address them, or u can do what ever u want. i don't care. my time with ubuntu come to an end. Update policies, payed updates, snap, adding new features in windows style , and so on. I think more people should be aware of this, if u like it or not.
