    Exclamation Unable to edit my post

    I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but it's consistent with me: When I copy output from gnome-terminal into an Ubuntu Forums post, and put CODE tags around it, on saving the post, it always joins the first two lines together. I can then edit the post and break them into two again.

    You can see this happening in this post (#21 in the thread), where the first line of code looks like this:
    Code:
    $ sudo apt install fwtsReading package lists... Done
    It's supposed to be two lines, like this:
    Code:
    $ sudo apt install fwts
    Reading package lists... Done
    However, on this one occasion, I am unable to edit the post. When I try to edit it, the area where I type (whatever it's called) is blank. I press "Go Advanced", and the area briefly flashes with my post but ends up blank again. The same happens if I refresh the page.

    So, I cannot fix the problem!

    This screencast, if you watch closely, shows the brief flash of the post when I refresh the page (the flash is about 2½ seconds in). As you can see, I've used a Guest profile so that no extensions, previous cookies or whatever could be interfering.

    To be clear: It's only this post where I have the problem. I seem to OK with every other post that I try to edit (including this one).

    Do you know how I can fix this, please?

    Re: Unable to edit my post

    a) I don't have that issue.
    b) I don't use gnome terminal.
    c) I use an xterm and have bash setup to have inputs like they were 5 yrs ago, none of that paste protection junk. You might try disabling that to see if it helps. Probably not, but we never know.

    Thanks, but the real problem is that I can't edit that one post. Someone who looks after the technical side of the forum would have to look at that.
