Graham Inggs informs us the first test rebuild of Oracular Oriole was started on August 12, 2024. Details of architectures and where builds have finished are given, with a link to the rebuild results. We are requested to help fix build failures.

Utkarsh Gupta announces that pursuant to the release schedule, Oracular Oriole is now in Feature Freeze. We're given reminders of what this means, plus info about Feature Freeze Exceptions where needed. Team focus is now on bug squashing!

AppArmor user namespace creation restrictions cause many applications to crash with SIGTRAP
A regression in a apparmor update has caused the failure of multiple apps. The fix, Stable Release Update, is now in the 'proposed' repository and we are requested to test. "The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days."

Proposal: Add the moderator bot and Ubuntu CoC links to subspaces of the Ubuntu Community space
Aaron Rainbolt, on behalf of the Ubuntu Matrix Council, puts forth a proposal that a Ubuntu Matrix moderation bot be used for all Ubuntu community subspaces in order to deal with spam problems. The problem is outlined, before we're told how this proposal will help deal with the issue. Feedback can be given, and questions asked in this thread.

Ubuntu Desktop’s 24.10 Dev Cycle - Part 4: August Update
Oliver Smith provides another Ubuntu Desktop team update as feature freeze for Ubuntu 24.10 is reached, and Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS approaches. GNOME 47 beta is now available on daily builds, issues with the Steam snap, fixes for those using NVIDIA 550, and more are covered. This is a detailed post, covering a lot of topics including some screenshots, but we're also told it's part 1 only, with another part to come covering the rest of August 2024.

WebDAV Fixes for Fastmail, Mailbox Coming to Ubuntu 24.04
Joey Sneddon writes that users experiencing problems setting up Fastmail or mailbox.org on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will have fixes. With details of the problem, some details of the fix to GNOME Online Accounts are mentioned, along with mention of a OneDrive fix too. Updates are currently in the ‘proposed’ updates channel for testing.

Ubuntu's X.Org Session Support Now Split Into Separate Package
Michael Larabel reminds us of the Ubuntu 24.10 feature freeze, then tells us that the Ubuntu GNOME X.Org session support is found in a separate binary from the main Wayland session. We're told its now found in 'ubuntu-session-xsession', with Michael noting this is similar to what Debian & other distributions had already done.
