Kernel Version Selection for Ubuntu Releases
Brett Grandbois outlines the duties of the Canonical Kernel Team in Linux's kernel selection. Firstly we're reminded of the differences between upstream Linux kernels and Ubuntu release philosophies, and the problems that can occur because of timing differences. Then Brett moves to how this impacts the upcoming Ubuntu 24.10 release. The problems with the current policy are mentioned, and we're then informed of a new policy, along with some definitions of 'recurring terms'.
