Install Ubuntu Server on pcengines apu3

Have a question and requesting some help. Would like to install
ubuntu server on a pcengines apu3 board that uses a serial port
rather than a grahpics interface. Have installed the serial
interface client using and old pc running minicom with success but the
install program hangs when selecting a drive to perform the install.
It consistently only allows install on the usb only that carries the
install program and does not allow the boards msata 120G drive to be
the install target.

Any help would be appreciated.
