Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a new Thinkpad P16s AMD Gen 2 with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U Pro CPU. I ordered the Ubuntu model, which came with Ubuntu 22.04, but I immediately upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04.
The system runs very smoothly overall, but I’ve noticed an issue when the laptop gets really hot. For instance, if I play Sonic Frontiers for a while, the machine will get quite hot (nothing alarming though), however GNOME will start displaying colorful and blocky screen artifacts. I've also had the screen backlight power off twice during a game and the only way to get it to come back on is to close the lid and open the lid. The screen artifacts only happen when the machine is hot.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and if it's more likely to be a hardware problem or a software problem. If it's hardware, I plan to send the machine back for a replacement. If it's software, I'll wait for a fix.
Thanks in advance for any insights!
