Talking I haven't posted here in probably 10-15 years

    I dunno lol

    It's been ages.

    What's up?

I am currently running Mint MATE from a pendrive. I was on Windows for ages but wow modern Windows is getting SO BAD.

Anywho, I hope people don't mind that it isn't (straight) Ubuntu, but erm... to be honest I mostly just like a Windows-esque layout and a lightweight DE and also... I get concerned about the spyware stuff and bloat? Maybe people can calm my nerves about that XD

I'll get something low caffeine in the cafe in that case. XD

Thanks all and good to be back!

    Welcome back!

I haven't been here much in years either, and I don't think it matters so much whether you're running pure Ubuntu, something based off of it, or anything else to hang out here.

Right now I am on Ubuntu but getting tempted to go to something else because my system is older hardware and sometimes there is just too much going on under the hood and it gets less responsive. Considering Pop! OS but I see that it is running on an older base (based on 22.04 LTS), but some of the older systems are less heavy. Or may try KDE Neon for a while (just wish it wasn't so Windows-like in looks).

Yeah, MS is up to their shenanigans again. The techs and many of the apps are pretty good, but then the leadership and executives get involved and make some dumb ideas that make you wonder why you gave them a chance again.

At work we are heavy Microsoft users, but as we move our VDI and more things in the cluod, we may be testing the idea of introducing a Linux machine to the network and see how that works. Being the "Linux guy" I figure I will get to vet things out, like connecting to AD, doing SSO, and etc. That is, so long as it can be protected and controlled by our various administration software packages.

    Have fun!

Now that the internet sucks and every second poster is a bot, I've been checking back here just a tad bit more. Running macOS mostly, but run everything all over the place now. Fedora, Rocky, RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, openSUSE, Windows... Well, the list is endless really. But macOS is the one consistent OS these days. 15 year old RichardLinx from ~2008 would think I'm so uncool.

Centrify is a good solution for this. Apparently Delinea Secret Server might be too, but I've only ever used Centrify to auth Linux hosts connected to a Windows AD in a mixed environment. Thought I'd chime that in after noticing your post.

Edit: Just realized the above isn't quite true. I also did it with FreeIPA / pGina config but it was a bit janky. https://github.com/pgina/pgina

Like Dragonbite, I haven't been around in awhile either. Between work, death of my mom and life, I have had a lot going on.
