Sourav Rudra alerts users of Ubuntu 23.10 that their system is now end of life. With a reminder of the duration of support options provided by Ubuntu releases, users are advised to upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS using the provided tools. Commands useful in checking what you're running, and performing this upgrade are provided.

LXD 6.1 has been released
Thomas Parrott reports the release of LXD 6.1; Thomas thanks all who contributed to this release. Ubuntu Desktop’s 24.10 Dev Cycle - Part 3: July Update
Oliver Smith gives the next monthly update from the Ubuntu Desktop team. With a reminder that we're half way through the cycle, Oliver firstly highlights work done by the Enterprise Desktop team which includes Ubuntu on Windows, ADSys (Active Directory Group Policy client) and more. We're told PPA testing of Authd is welcome, with details and how to report issues. GNOME 46.2, some snap update improvements (including new graphics being revealed) are given in this July update.

DXVK 2.4 Released With Direct3D 8 Support, Native WSI Improvements

Ubuntu’s App Center Updated, Can Now Open/Install DEBs
Joey Sneddon tells us that Ubuntu's App Center can now open and install 3rd party DEB packages, with it already having rolled out to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS users. Joey gives some examples on why he considers this can be useful. Joey also gives a belated apology for not telling us of this sooner, with the reason being that as a snap package, it updated in the background and thus he didn't notice immediately.
