Developer Membership Board Election Results
Robie Basak, on behalf of the Ubuntu Technical Board, gives the results of the Developer Membership Board election. We're told Robie Basak, Simon Quigley and Benjamin Drung will serve for two year terms, and Brian Murray, Utkarsh Gupta, Simon Chopin and Thomas Ward will serve for one year. Lucas Kanashiro, Sebastien Bacher and Łukasz Zemczak have stood down, and are thanked for their service. We are told of some of the machinations due to insufficient nominations, and asked if we have objections to raise them within one week of the announcement.

Nasty regreSSHion bug in OpenSSH puts roughly 700K Linux boxes at risk
Conner Jones writes about CVE-2024-6387 which impacts OpenSSH's server (sshd). We're told Infosec researchers at Qualys discovered the race condition, and how it could be misused by attackers. We're also told of links with the prior CVE-2006-5051 which was patched, but a change back in October 2020 caused this regression. Despite this 'regreSSHion' issue, Qualys still hold the OpenSSH project in high regard. A link to Ubuntu USN-6859-1 security notice is provided for reassurance.
