Question version 10.04 DVD x86 can't install samba

    Hello

I am low experience with Linux and UBUNTU.

I have old Hardware LACIE NAS SERVER, 1 TB in 2 hdd 512gb, but only 1 processor x86 of 1 Ghz, and 192Mb ram .

My present solution to reuse is to install Ubuntu 10. The live version is able to install SAMBA share, but if i install can't install Samba,

Can you explain how i can install from DVD? or other source.

Ubuntu version numbers are actually release dates. So Version 10.04 was released in April of 2010, 14 years ago. It was a Long Term Support release which means it was supported for 5 years. It has been out of support for about 9 years now. It is forum policy to steer people away from using old and unsupported releases since they won't get any fixes for bugs that are still in the software and running such software must be considered a security problem both for the user running such a system and for the internet at large.

You should really try to find a Linux distribution that fits your hardware and purpose better than Ubuntu does. Something compact that still supports 32 bit systems. Alpine Linux is one distribution that might be a better idea.
