Re: Nvidia 4060 - Laptop - Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04 - Forced Setting Questions

the sudo su, and whoami, copy pasto.

    rmleloupjr@rmleloupjr-Bravo-15-C7VFK:~$ sudo su
    [sudo] password for rmleloupjr:
    root@rmleloupjr-Bravo-15-C7VFK:/home/rmleloupjr# whoami
    root
    root@rmleloupjr-Bravo-15-C7VFK:/home/rmleloupjr#

Hope that helps in understanding, I don't seem to have a privelge/permission issue if that makes sense.

Apologies for delay, had to re attend the dinner practices of family intricies and what not. Yay life.

Now while your in that same terminal please use this:
    Code:
    nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=28 --allow-empty-initial-configuration
Now check again if it wrote the file:
    Code:
    less /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    If it did now run:
    Code:
    nvidia-settings
    Change to performance and save.
Now get out of "root" terminal with "exit"

    Diety Blip (filtered verbage).

See attached picture, I actually "see" what you identified early on that I should have seen, but didn't (odd?).

That said, it now has a thing that you were looking for.

Loaded nvidia-settings, but there is no "save" regardless the change I commit, it seems like it integrates a save.

Just rebooting post setting change to see yay/nae, one moment...

Re: Nvidia 4060 - Laptop - Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04 - Forced Setting Questions

    Alrighty,

Update: Did a reboot, and it's still set to auto/adaptive, performance level 0,1,2,3 randomly. But never 4 directly unless I push it.

Goal = level 4 setting permanent on boot still. But, i'm under the impression we are making progress?

P.S. thank you so much for your insight and patience.

Ok, so i've obviously missed this button, but when I went to save,

    Do I "merge" or?

And when I attempt merge, I get the attached picture error.

    Yes copy all that to
    Code:

That command should show a blank window.
Now Paste that content you show in that window, save and exit.

Re: Nvidia 4060 - Laptop - Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04 - Forced Setting Questions

So, I opened it, saw the file.

What I had to do, was backspace the bloody thing as I wasn't sure how to clear the original data to replace with new.

Manually held backspace the whole thing in slow motion...

Then pasted the whole output it was intended to.

Then control O showed the write option, and it "wrote" 78 lines., then control X for exit.

    I'm assuming reboot after ?
