    Appreciate your advice and can I install the new version of Ubuntu without removing the disk sda, where the current Ubuntu is located? I
    The suggestion above was to remove the windows disk (which showed as sdb) so as not to overwrite it when you install Ubuntu.
    You can leave the windows disk in but when you boot the Ubuntu installer, you should use some Linux software to determine how these drives show up, something like fdisk or gparted which will be available on the install medium. You need to verify at the time of the install what the drives are shown as.

    Or simpler you can just pull out the powerlead inside the tower to disable the drive.
