Happens both on the 6.x something and the 5.x something.
Is there nothing I can do, like go back to the old kernel (no longer installed) and Ubuntu 18, or whichever I came from.

You keep asking if anything can be done, Doug S and i have kind of given up on you.
We keep asking for info needed but nothing comes back.
I'm pretty sure it's either a Hardware issue, or your system is very degraded or corrupt.
At this point I would if I were you, Fresh Clean install, just to check against a degraded or corrupt system.
Sorry
Yea sorry.
Hard to accept I had a working system, wanting to upgrade and now it feels like a huge brick.
Thanks for all the help!
Much appreciated.
I've re-read this thread. I don't have anything to add. I worry about using tainted kernels and out of tree modules.
It is an extreme long shot, but one thing I do with these type of issues is reduce the maximum CPU frequency so as to increase timing margins.
Any follow-up information on your issue would be appreciated. Please have the courtesy to report back.
