And I shall also say: It's a fight. It's not the simplest thing in the world to remove SnapD, and make it stay removed. I'm not debating that it CAN'T be done, but if it can, it's not easy. And 99% of all users don't want to fight their OS.

I have no good feelings for snap either. I find it notorious, at least in flatpak you got flatseal to tweak the permission and stuff. And not to mention it not themeable icon wise and you have to set it manually.
Good thing I have moved to Zorin and Solus on my systems. Sad after so many years of praising Ubuntu from the start that it's no more.

Just use Kubuntu. It doesnt use snap for anything. I am not sure its even got installed by default

Don't mind me, I'm only passing through.
Once in a blue moon, I'm actually helpful.
And it's integrated om Discover (you can control a Snap's permissions graphically with it). Probably a good thing for the flavors to not diverge too much from Ubuntu in this regard.
Still not 100% sure if Snaps are an improvement for desktop users (they might be for developers) over the traditional packages sources. As long as I see improvements though I'm mildly optimistic, like snapd now noticing when programs are shut down so they can be updated.
