FOSSASIA Summit 2024 Recap!
Youngbin Han gives us a recap of the FOSSASIA Summit 2024. We're told the event was larger than last year with around 5000 participants. Youngbin shows some photos, gives some details of the activities done at the Ubuntu booth (promoting Ubuntu and Korean LoCo activities), and promotes for DebConf24 and UbuCon Asia 2024. Youngbin concludes with a mention of his talk and a listing of many of the others.

Guide to submitting presentation proposals for UbuCon Korea 2024
Yonghyeon Lee ( dldydgus1995) writes to advise the call for presentation proposals is open. The event is scheduled for August 10th at Microsoft Korea in Gwanghwamun. The topic, Deploy with Ubuntu, is given along with recommendations for proposals. The proposal submission period, and submissions procedure instruction links are provided, as well as contact info.

Upcoming AppArmor Security update for CVE-2016-1585
Steve Beattie writes about a past change to AppArmor that resulted in "looser permissions" than was intended which resulted in CVE-2016-1585. This post addresses that fix which will impact Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Steve gives package version details of the fix (in proposed at time of writing). Details of how to test for flaws are provided, with feedback appreciated, and we are advised of the final release on the week of April 22, 2024.

New feature: Ubuntu Snapshot Service
Carlos Bravo tells us about the Ubuntu snapshot service. We're told the service can provide details for any date/time after March 1, 2023, and given some use cases for this service. The service currently supports Ubuntu 23.10, but will include all future releases; intention is supporting Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS in the future. We're told the snapshot database is expected to be kept for two years.

Release v0.2.0 of “miracle-wm”, a Wayland compositor built on Mir
Matthew Kosarek annouces the release of Miracle-wm version 0.2.0. We're told this release is still considered development grade. We are given a link to GitHub for the feature list and full instructions (basic instructions are provided in this thread), and asked for feedback.
