Question Should I use the Gnome network manager in Xubuntu?

The problem is I cannot see an OpenVPN option in settings after installation.

    I had two package options:

    network-manager-openvpn
    network-manager-openvpn-gnome

Since I am using Xubuntu I assumed the 1st one is the right choice. I logged out & back in, still no option for OpenVPN.

Or there's a third option. Stop using network-manager. It isn't necessary.
