    Seeking Assistance with Resolving Class Initialization Errors in Java on Ubuntu

    Hey everyone,

    I hope you're all doing well. I'm currently facing some perplexing issues with a Java program I'm developing on my Ubuntu machine, and I'm hoping to tap into the collective wisdom of this forum to help me troubleshoot and resolve them.

    Here's the scenario: I'm working on a comprehensive Java application aimed at managing student records and academic data. The application includes various classes to represent students, courses, grades, and more. Everything was going smoothly until I encountered a series of class initialization errors that have brought my progress to a grinding halt.

    Specifically, the errors seem to occur when I attempt to initialize instances of my Student class. Despite meticulously reviewing my code and conducting thorough testing, I'm still unable to pinpoint the exact cause of these errors. This is incredibly frustrating because I've invested a considerable amount of time and effort into this project, and these errors are impeding my ability to move forward with development.

    To provide some context, I've included a snippet of the Student class below. This class encapsulates basic student information such as name, ID, and an array of grades. However, despite what appears to be a straightforward implementation, I keep encountering initialization errors that prevent the program from executing as intended.

    public class Student {
        private String name;
        private int id;
        private double[] grades;
        public Student(String name, int id, double[] grades) {
   = name;
   = id;
            this.grades = grades;
        public String getName() {
            return name;
        public int getId() {
            return id;
        public double[] getGrades() {
            return grades;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            // Create a Student object with invalid initialization values
            Student student = new Student(null, -1, null);
    As you can see, the Student class consists of several fields and a constructor for initializing instances of the class. However, despite seemingly valid initialization parameters, I continue to encounter errors related to class initialization, particularly when attempting to create new Student objects.
    I've tried a variety of debugging approaches, including evaluating my code for syntax issues, looking for potential conflicts with other classes or dependencies, asking for help here, and even reinstalling Java on my Ubuntu laptop. However, none of these initiatives have resulted in considerable progress toward fixing the flaws.

    If anyone has encountered similar issues with class initialization in Java on Ubuntu or has any insights on how to effectively troubleshoot and fix these errors, I would be immensely grateful for your assistance. I'm open to any suggestions, tips, or guidance that could help me overcome this hurdle and get back on track with my project.

    Thank you all in advance for your time and support. Your expertise and insights are invaluable to me, and I truly appreciate any help you can offer.

    I am not Java programmer, but I have saved this code to file
    and I have run these commands
    $ javac -Xlint
    $ java Student
    without any error.
    Do you mean error during another initialization?
    $ java --version
    openjdk 17.0.10 2024-01-16
