    Twelve years of support?

    Re: https://news.itsfoss.com/ubuntu-24-0...ef=itsfoss.com
The referenced article says, " Ubuntu LTS 24.04 is to get twelve years of support." Wow, that's a long time!
I will probably be in my final resting place before the end of that support cycle.

Question: If Ubuntu LTS 22.04 currently gets five years of support and flavors (Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu) get three years of support, how many years of support will the LTS 24.04 flavors get now?
    Cheers,

    Re: Twelve years of support?

I think that this is, on the one hand, competition with Redhat for the enterprise market. And on the other hand, an assurance that an apt based Ubuntu will still be around in 12 years time.

In the mean time Canonical will develop an immutable operating system called Ubuntu Core Desktop. When that is working and refined Ubuntu's method of version develpment and support period may be completely changed.

See the video. It dates from the Ubuntu Summit on 03 November 2023.
