Re: Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter Issue 815

    https://www.meetup.com/ale-atlanta-linux-enthusiasts/ and https://ale.org/.
Anyone with a computer and video meeting capability, using WebRTC, can usually join and get help, since we are virtual meetings.
    SUNDAYS from 3pm to 6pm US\Eastern
    • Please mute your microphone and add your nickname under your temporary profile.
    • Announce yourself if you are new, then feel free to lurk or ask questions or provide help to others.
    • Please use a headset, if possible.
    • Please open the chat window to see messages.
    • The first few minutes will just be to play around with the Jitsi interface.

ALE Sunday Meetings are not about presentations. We try to help individuals with specific issues. With this online meeting service people can break-off to work in their own rooms as needed.
The specific URL can change due to assorted reasons, but it is in the meetup link.

Generally about 15 regulars will attend each week with a few new people who show up as they need help.
We have had people join from around the world. All are welcome with Linux questions. The crowd in attendance rules on non-Linux topics or commercial presentations.

Added ALE to the LoCo Events section - will update for each Sunday meeting:
    per the calendar:
    * Atlanta Linux Enthusiasts: NW Weekly Linux Help Session (online) - December 3, 2:00- 5:00 PM - https://meet.jit.si/ALE-Sunday

If more is done at your end maybe then we can do more.

    Thanks, but ...

Please don't list the jitsi link. We have to change it at the last minute sometimes due to pests. We will let the people who signed up know and have someone at the other location provide pointers to the new link, after they provide reasonable proof they aren't pests/trolls.

Appreciated. One of our members is listed as the Ubuntu Atlanta Contact, BTW.

ALE.org also has a monthly meeting somewhere. I haven't been since before COVID and don't know much about it. It may be virtual - it was held at a makerspace in DeKalb pre-COVID. It used to have formal presentations from experts in different topics.

We've found that more experienced Linux people can find the answers for their needs, but the newer people need more interactive help. That's the niche the NW-Sunday meetings try to fill. Some of our members join popular Linux podcasts and "pimp" our meetings too.

ALE communicates more widely through our email listsrv, not so much via meetup. The Meetup stuff is mainly for calendaring and because kids these day's have lost the idea of a website being the main place for information about a group. Sigh.
