    Question lose my "Ubuntu Advantage?"

My gui on an old 5th gen. i7, Iris 630 graphics, is apparently gone after xorg was removed during an upgrade today, Aug. 4. My data is on a separate partition, so it's good. This install has survived changing computers, and Ubuntu upgrades going back to 2009, and about every GUI supported under Ubuntu.

Question: will re-installing Ubuntu on my "system" partition for that computer lose my "Ubuntu Advantage" registration for that hardware?

A newer and simpler installation on a real 4th gen. Haswell i7 upgraded something like Windows 11 does, but not without hiccups. Software updater complained, then behaved.

Re-installed the system, kept my data partition intact. Ubuntu Pro says I still have 5 licenses, so I'm probably still okay on the Advantage.
I'm not really sure what that means after the past 3 days. At least I fixed my partition table too.

You didn't provide any release details (though your tag shows 22.04), but remove of the desktop meta package did occur for a number of users if they upgraded during a specific window. You could resolve the issue by just re-installing that desktop meta package, with re-install not being required.

Here is how those 5 subscription are counted... If you look closely, it counts what has been active in the "last 24 hours".

What I was told by the Ubuntu Pro Team, is if, for some reason there is a problem, to contact them and they will detach the old machine subscription for people, from their subscriptions.

There was a time when it first came out when, if you had a problem, you would have to generate a new machine ID, which a new install would generate that new machine id, so you should be good on both perspectives of that.

If I have any question with Ubuntu Pro, I go to: https://ubuntu.com/pro, and use the "Chat Now" dialog.
