Like the title says, I'm having trouble getting Waydroid working when I also have Ubuntu Mate running. If possible I don't really want to give up on either of them. Is it possible to somehow get Waydroid up in this environment? Or is the only option to get rid of my beautiful desktop thats running compiz fusion and ubuntu mate?
Waydroid requires Wayland. As Mate is only Xorg (last I checked) it simply won't happen.

Saved me a lot of time to figure out if I could get it to work otherwise. I just reinstalled it and logged into a wayland session from login and that did the trick. At least I dont have to uninstall ubuntu mate or compiz to get it working.
