Arrow HP Laserjet 400 dne on server via USB - can't get it to print from kubuntu

I have an HP Laserjet 400 (M401dne) attached to my Ubuntu Server Pro 22.04 via a USB port. I can't get my workstation running Kubuntu 22.04 to print on it. I've searched the internet and tried just about everything over the last week.

The server does not have a graphical interface. So I'm limited to command line on it.

Could someone please give me a step-by-step on how to set it up.

    Thanks

Re: HP Laserjet 400 dne on server via USB - can't get it to print from kubuntu

Once I deleted it from cups on the server, I could print from the workstation.

It's printing but there is no way to select the which tray the paper comes from and no way to enable the optional third tray. I would have liked at least an option to print from the manual tray.

There is an option to print using the system dialog. That gave me the option to use the 3rd tray. Don't do it. It put the printer into a paused state. It took several tries after deleting the job to get functioning again.

The duplexer is available and working.

I marked it "solved", but would have like a "Partially Solved" tag.
