I upgraded to Ubuntu 22.10 the day that it came out (22 Oct), and have been enjoying it. However, ever since 24 Oct I have been totally unable to launch Nautilus. The real trouble is, I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. I tried running nautilus from the command line, including nautilus -w to force a new window, hoping that some kind of error would display in the terminal window, but no luck. I also tried launching Nautilus while grepping /var/log/syslog and other log files, but I just can't find where events for this program are captured or logged. I ended up installing PCManFM and that works just fine. But it bugs me that I can't get nautilus to work. Does anyone have a suggestion or guidance?
Well, this problem seems to be resolved now that I'm on Mantic Minotaur (23.10).
