    Looking for a printer advice

    I have a HP officejet 8500 printer, and it was been working for 10 years; but now I cannot find anywere original ink, and it refuses to work on 3rd party.

    So it has come time to search for a replacement... my requirements are:
    * print about 150 pages monthly
    * automatic dual sided printing (duplexer)
    * color
    * scanner

    I was wondering about a laser printer, but laser+color+scanner+duplex seems an impossible combo with HP; so I am open to other brands with good linux support.
    I would appreciate a budget under 200€; but I don't mind paying more if it lasts 10 years.

    Really? My HP Laser Jet Pro MFP m277dw does all of that. If I get a chance, I will search, but that should be easy to find.

    I've had good success with Brother printers. That said, the combination of color scanning and color laser printing is going to cost you a lot more than 200 euros. The contemporary equivalent to my Brother HL-3170CDW is https://www.amazon.com/Brother-HL-L3...dp/B09SCV2YDJ/. It's over $450 and has no scanner. My printer has been on sale from time to time; I bought it new from Amazon for about $200.

    How often do you need to scan documents? I've found in many cases taking a photo with my smartphone works just as well. OTOH, if you're an attorney and need to send around fifty-page documents, that's not an option.

    I agree with SeijiSensei brother commercial printer are good quality for business. I've been using brother printer/scanner for 6 years now and it works smoothly with my Linux Ubuntu Operating System. Scanners works great with simple scan and xsane image scanning program. Regards and Cheers.

    Sometimes one can find practically new, refurbished printers (MFC devices) for less expen$e than a new one. A few years ago I purchased a refurbished commercial grade Brother MFC-7360N (B&W only) device for about $100 from Staples while a new one was around $350, also paid for a three year maintenance contract - it all still cost less than a new one. I still use it after all these years printing, copying, scanning, faxing - send & receive. Never had any problems with it. In my experience, Brother provides good support with their Linux drivers, and their toner cartridges are relatively inexpensive.

    One thing to think about. How often do you really need to color print? In my families case we ended up dumping the inkjet and just keep a b/w laser around these days. We used color printing so rarely it was more efficient and less problematic to do any color printing at an office max / staples / ups store type of place. Inkjet ink is a scam and laser cartridges just keep on ticking.

    Just thought I'd mention that Amazon has this Brother color laser on sale at $270; no scanning I'm afraid.
