printers: driver-less or not? hidden when off or visible?

    Hello,

just two simple questions of what you observe under jammy development and your printers:

    1) printers are recognized without the need to install any drivers. Which of the two do you prefer: with or without the driver?

    2) either way, when printer is turned off, it disappears under settings->printer and reappears when on: do you see such a similar behavior?

    Regards!

Yes, driverless printing (and scanning now too!) is amazing.

as a result it is a feature of ubuntu devel., to be able to print/scan without installing the drivers.

Shouldn't be possible though to see the machines you have available when machines are turned off? Is this a feature as well?

    Regards!

This driverless printers/scanners is a great thing to have. It also seems to be default on my Android 11 smart phone and also on my Windows partition. I was amazed to find recently when I needed to print a web page, my brother printer worked in Windows and I have never installed a printer on that system. So it appears this is a part of the compatibility project. It removes a big headache across the board.

    Hello,

checking for the last couple of days, I'm able to see the printer under system->settings->printer, even when turned off, yet now, under Printer Details the Driver states: IPP Everywhere

    Regards!
