Can't make it past splash screen on Plasma desktop for my user account

    Hey everyone,

First time posting on here, I'm running into an issue since Saturday night where I can't make it past the login screen for Plasma desktop. I type in my password and it seems to freeze, can still move mouse. I am able to log in to Ubuntu on Wayland desktop successfully. On doing so I created a new user and am able to log in to Plasma desktop successfully with that user, so it seems like this is isolated to my user account. I'm running Ubuntu 21.10 and was having zero issues with this combo of KDE on Ubuntu until I downloaded a large update on Saturday night. I am still new to Linux and Ubuntu, so I don't really know what steps to take to troubleshoot this further/solve the issue. Can anyone help please?
