    Split monitor in half

    Hello guys,
Is there a way to split the monitor in half?
I tried "super" plus "left or right arrow" and it does not work.
Is there something am I missing? I am running lubuntu 21.10
    Thx

    Welcome to the forums, alfredohuerta

Not quite sure what you mean by "split the monitor in half". If you mean having one monitor display simultaneous output from two separate display servers, then no. One monitor per display server. That's the way the the display server/monitor relationship works. But if you mean having two windows displayed side by side taking up the whole desktop, then the <super>+<left/right arrow> trick should work.

    • Are you running Focal or later?
    • Do you have vanilla Ubuntu or another flavour? To my knowledge, the above trick works only with vanilla Ubuntu.
    • You must have the window that you want to manipulate in focus before pressing <Super>+<Left/Right>

    EDIT:

I should read more carefully. You are running Lubuntu. The above manipulation does not work in Lubuntu.

You can use Virtual Workspaces - in a grid.

    Please note my earlier reply.

These key combos will not work in Lubuntu. They are a Gnome convention. They only work in vanilla Ubuntu.

Unlikely. Lubuntu is based on LXQT. I doubt that their devs have any desire to copy GNOME. If you really want the GNOME conventions, your best bet is to install vanilla Ubuntu.

There may be ways to duplicate the functionality using fancy scripts and hacks. Such techniques are beyond my knowledge.
