Printing to PostScript in Focal (20.04 LTS)

    Hello,

I am trying to follow the instructions provided on the official documentation page below to print a diagram to either a PostScript or EPS file. Please see the link below.

    https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/ubuntu-h...o-file.html.en

    Step #4 says (emphasis mine):
    4. PDF is the default file type for the document. If you want to use a different Output format, select either PostScript or SVG.
However, the print dialogues launched from my drawing app or from Firefox do not appear to give me the option of selecting the output format when printing to a file. Even when I explicitly specify a .ps extension, the output appears to be PDF.

Is it possible to print to anything other than PDF? I prefer either PostScript or EPS, personally.

    Thank you.

You can setup a generic Postscript printer through the printer config tool. Then you'd just select that as a "Printer" - similar to the way we used to "Print" to PDF files in the 1990s.
