Re: 20.04 Ubuntu Background image is hiding new windows opened by programs

I need to clarify my understanding:

Assuming I have made a fresh install of Thunderbird. Next I want to bring in my past emails. Does this mean that I just go to the profile and copy it over into the new one. This implies I will not be copying troublesome themes, tweaks, or config files because there are none in the profile. but if there is some, how do I weed them out? This follow up question applies equally to all the other config files in the home dir..

I think that you should restore the complete .thunderbird folder, reboot and test.
If it misbehaves, then report back with exact details.
e.g. it could be one user, an extension or a theme or something else?
Or it could be trouble free.

There are too many variables to give an answer in advance.

You weed out troublesome config. files by first identifying them.

Of course, it may not be configuration files because it is unclear what happened with python in your previous posts.
Hopefully, a clean OS installation has eliminated any python problems and you can concentrate elsewhere.
