Impish Indri (21.10) Final Freeze

Lukasz Zemczak on, behalf of the Ubuntu Release Team, relays that Impish Indri has now reached final freeze; its final stretch before being released as Ubuntu 21.10. Informing us that current uploads will be reviewed and either accepted or rejected, Lukasz outlines what is required for anything submitted from this point on.

Release 2.5.0

Alan Griffiths (alan_g) explains that with the updates for support for existing Wayland protocol extensions and the implementation of some new protocol extensions, the client stacks onscreen keyboards and Electron Wayland are now enabled. In the changelog Alan gives the ABI summary, a list of the enhancements, and a list of the bugs fixed. Download links are provided for the deb, the various snap builds, and to the source tarball.

Ubuntu 21.10 is upon us, and it's small changes for major improvements

Jack Wallen gives us his thoughts of trying Ubuntu 21.10, and summarizes it as "the most polished" and "most performant" release. A large part of this is GNOME 40 Jack explains, before outlining what this includes, and some application versions included. Jack concludes that the release is suitable for “any user of any skill level”.
