Another option to Bohdi, is to use one the the ChromeOS clones. This is like the OS used on Chromebooks, but with all the proprietary google stuff removed. All together, it is called "chromiumOS" and because it was designed to run on very cheap, low-end, chromebooks with just 16GB of total storage, it is very light. There are a few distros of it. I think "CloudReady" is a very popular version. There are a few others. ChromeOS is tightly tied to the hardware - that's why it is probably THE most secure OS in the world today that still has a network stack and connects to the internet. ChromiumOS is very similar, but because it doesn't mandate any specific hardware, it will run on many, many, more types of systems. Of course, it has all the limitations that ChromeOS has too, but it is definitely simple enough for almost anyone to pick up and use who has used a browser before.

https://www.howtogeek.com/128087/how...-a-chromebook/ is a 2019 article about running ChromiumOS inside a virtual machine. Very useful for online banking ... cough.

Turns out that running these inside a VM isn't trivial anymore. Sorry to waste everyone's time. However, for an old laptop, I would still suggest taking a look for a few hours if you have minimal needs. Mainly it will be an internet browser with access to google-apps, gmail, webmail, and social network stuff, etc. ... but the entire web too. That can be great for people who aren't too tech savvy and aren't interested in becoming or spend **any** money at all.

A new plan of attack. Thoughts? Will be easier or hard to run focal fossa
    PHP Code:
    [HTML][/HTML
    on this
B]"There is no failure, just ways that don't work" And when this is realized, people are much happier in life because if they stop trying, they fail as to give up. If people take this approach in life, they will never ever fail"[/B]
