Hi Folks! Just installed Ubuntu 21.04 and am trying to get Ardour 6 running. I have a Zoom H4N that I would like to use as the USB sound device when recording music in Ardour. I wasn't sure if this thread was better suited to 'Hardware' but seeing as the Zoom appears to be working as my computer's audio device as soon as I select the option from its menu, I think the issue lies with Ardour. All computer audio is directed to the Zoom's internal speaker, or its 1/8" headphone jack if headphones are connected. When I open Ardour and start a new project, the 'Audio/MIDI Setup' window opens, and beside the 'Audio System' option, it says 'stopped' in red and I can't open the new project. 'Zoom H4' is selected in the options where it appears. Not sure what I'm missing here... Thanks in advance for the help!
Hello, Any reason you didn't install Ubuntu Studio? https://ubuntustudio.org/ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio
Hi there, thanks for the input! I didn't know such a thing existed. I'm torrenting an ISO now and will see if this fixes the problem.
Have you looked into Audacity yet? I use it to record 18 channels from an Allen & Heath mixer. Works like a dream and is very easy to figure out.
