    Re: adding attachments

There is one difference between my old post and this one and that is how the forum handled my attachment:

In the old post it saved the one image link as:
    HTML Code:
    https://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=288485&d=1621198895&thumb=1
In the new post it saves two image links .........

    HTML Code:
    https://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=289367&stc=1

    https://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=289367&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1621198895
........ But even though the image itself is from the same "manage attachments" repository the "attachementid"'s are different.

    Re: adding attachments

    Test from Firefox.

1 - from previously used attachments already uploaded:

    guinness-glass-closeup.jpg

2 - Freshly uploaded attachment for this post:

    funny-animals_117692.jpg

:sigh: What is vBulletin playing at?

Edit: when I have time I'll rummage around in adminCP and see if there's something in usergroup permissions that might be responsible. Two admins are not posting the giant images, but others are. Also - those inadvertently posting giant images have the "Attached thumbnails" box in their posts, whereas QIII and I have just the bare thumbnail.

If you need help with your forum account, such as SSO login issues, username changes, etc, the correct place to contact an admin is here. Please do not PM me about these matters unless you have been asked to - unsolicited PMs concerning forum accounts will be ignored.

    Re: adding attachments

I have just this very second made a screenshot of this page of the forum and will now try to attach it using the normal paperclip icon in the toolbar.
    Here goes.

Well as you can see that worked exactly as I expected it to!
    I'm baffled.

Could this be down to the reply box setup; Enhanced, Basic or Standard?
That is known to cause other problems such as the wall of text problem some users see.
FYI: I always use the Standard setting

Hmmm. Here's a new member who has managed to avoid posting the full-sized image:

    https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2468361

So probably not a usergroup thing as far as the full-sized image is concerned.

Except that you are showing the Attached thumbnails box in your post, but QIII and I are not. If you try to edit either QIII or my posts (I think your mod permissions will allow that) you'll see that the admin posts have the [ATTACH] BBCode for the thumbnails, whereas the posts with the attached thumbnails box don't. That's a clue I will pursue when I have time.

Interesting thought. I'll add that to my clues to pursue list.

Test with message editor in WYSIWYG mode:

AHA. Bingo! Give ajgreeny an ice-cream someone. Although it doesn't explain why this has only recently started happening.

It's a deal; make it a mint-choc-chip and I won't ask for my usual fee!

Oh, wait a minute, the usual fee here is £0.00

What is £0.00 is $US? Maybe you are getting paid more than me!

This universe is crazy. I'm going back to my own.
