Time & Date screenshot was taken

I took a screen shot of a bank account yesterday and the bank are asking me to prove the actual time it was taken.

The Properties of the screenshot only say 'yesterday'. Is there a way to recover the time and date taken?

I have not changed any default settings for files, screenshots or pictures so if it is not saved by default then I have lost it.

open the screenshot with gthumb. The 'i' icon will show the metadata. See (crop from) screenshot I just took of gthumb with opened screenshot of this page. Upper right shows exact date and time.

Edit: Even simpler, In Ubuntu at least, the default file name of the screenshot uses the time and date it was taken. That may be acceptable.
    Code:

Yes, that is the naming convention of Xubuntu as well so unless you changed the saved screenshot name, that should be what it's called.

Many thanks, I renamed the file so I will use gthumb.

Worth knowing the file name includes the stamp, I had never noticed!
