    AFP not working: DHX2: PAM_Error: Authentication failure

    Hello,

    after many years I reinstalled my server to the latest Ubuntu. Everything works fine expect the AFP Server. Whenever I try to login, I am rejected.

    Any ideas?

    Re: AFP not working: DHX2: PAM_Error: Authentication failure

    Did you configure the authentication for your AFP server?

    Example:
    Code:
    root@server:/usr/src/netatalk-3.1.11# addgroup netatalk
    root@server:/usr/src/netatalk-3.1.11# adduser testuser
    root@server:/usr/src/netatalk-3.1.11# usermod -a -G netatalk testuser
    Your have to add the group, and add users to that group... Right?

    Concurrent coexistance of Windows, Linux and UNIX...

    are you sure? I do not see any linking to this group.

    My afp.conf looks like:

    Code:
    stonki@eos:~$ cat /etc/netatalk/afp.conf
    ;
    ; Netatalk 3.x configuration file
    ;

    [Global]
    ; Global server settings
    admin auth user = root
    disconnect time = 3
    sleep time = 2
    log file = /var/log/netatalk.log
    log level = default:debug
    zeroconf = yes
    save password = yes
    ea = samba

    [EOS Volume]
    path = /mnt/files/
    valid users = stonki
    unix priv = yes
    file perm = 0600

    [Time Machine Volume]
    path = /mnt/files/backup/
    time machine = yes
    unix priv = yes
    file perm = 0600
    valid users = stonki

    it refers to valid user, which is my user account on the system. I did not refer to groups (e.g. @apple).

    Re: AFP not working: DHX2: PAM_Error: Authentication failure

    I added

    ; Global server settings
    uam list = uams_gss.so,uams_dhx2.so,uams_dhx.so

    and it works!
