    Re-install LibreOffice Calc

    I hope I’m in the right forum for this problem. It concerns re-installing LibreOffice Calc.
    I’m running Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS and that came with LibreOffice installed.
    I ran into problems with it’s spreadsheet Calc. In the end I decided to uninstall and then re-install Calc. That shouldn’t be a problem as the Software app offers the options to this. Only it doesn’t work. Uninstalling Calc works fine, but when I try to re-install it I get :

    I only want to re-install Calc, not re-installing LibeOffice completely as I don’t want having to spend hours configuring all of my preferences.

    Greetings

    You won't have to reconfigure all your preferences - they are stored in your home directory and uninstalling or reinstalling the program wont delete your personal settings. So you can uninstall and reinstall the whole thing if you like.

    Re: Re-install LibreOffice Calc

    This is very strange, uninstalling the LibreOffice Calc. Why should you do that, anyway this is a free open source application.
    I think you can install it back by using the Software App. Try searching it in the Software Apps maybe you can find LibreOffice there.
    This is I assumed that the LibreOffice Calc was uninstalled properly in your system and I think you can install it back easily by using the Software App.
    But If you uninstalled it improperly I don't think you can install it back easily, you have to remove it completely first so that you won't
    be mess up installing it back again. But if you have remove it completely, you can install it back again without any delays.
    So you be careful next time so that will never ruin your O.S again.
    Good Luck.

    Re: Re-install LibreOffice Calc

    The error message indicates it's a temporary error. Refresh the list of available software (i.e., check for updates) and try again.

    If the problem was caused by your user config files, removing and reinstalling libreoffice calc won't help. Removing and reinstalling won't reset your settings.

    Open a terminal window (ctrl-alt-t) and try:

    Code:
    $ sudo apt update
    $ sudo apt upgrade
    $ sudo apt install libreoffice-calc

    This happens when the mirror sync is in process. Just wait about 10 minutes, then try again:

    Code:
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt upgrade
    PS: Don't post pictures of terminal text outputs, just copy pase the text.

    Re: Re-install LibreOffice Calc

    There is indeed something wrong with ‘Software’. I just tried to install an app I wanted to test, and I got the same error. Tried another one, same result.
    So I’ll try the update/upgrade procedure.
    I will let you know what happens.

    I don't understand anything of this, but obviously there is something seriously wrong.

    Re: Re-install LibreOffice Calc

    The mirror site you using is definitely broken.
    Open 'Software & Updates', in the first tab where it says Download from click in the box and change the server. Close the window and agree to the prompts.
    Open a terminal and run
    Code:
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt upgrade
    Post the output of the first command if any errors.

    Re: Re-install LibreOffice Calc

    OK westie457. That did the trick.
    No more errors and LibreOffice Calc has been re-installed.

    Problem Solved
