Something is wrong with your browser. I haven't logged into this site in a few days. Just depends on when the browser last crashed or I rebooted the system.
If my IP address changes, like when I use different VPN exit nodes, that triggers a new session here. Could that be what you are seeing?

I think the login is remembered for a period of time.
I log in just about every day and like TheFu rarely have to sign in.
New releases of Firefox & switching systems, do require login.
I also bookmarked the forum search page, and have "oldfred" as saved default search.
It then shows all my recent posts & in bold any with new posts.

If you don't log out, your session will last 24 hours even if you close your browser.
There's one thing though, if your public-facing IP address changes, you will usually find yourself logged out. That's a feature of the VBulletin software that the forum runs on. If you are in the situation where your ISP changes your IP address regularly, that will affect you, and there's nothing we can do about it.
