Latest 21.04 drivers update screwed up nvidia

Does anyone else have this problem?

I haven't run into driver issues with ubuntu for a long time, updated to 21.04 without a hitch. Then I got hit with more updates... wouldn't boot, screen kept flashing. After an hour of experimenting, I'm giving up and thinking of backing up and reinstalling.

Any ideas on what the problem is? I'm assuming a lot of people also got hit hard with this last update.

That last update may have included a kernel upgrade. From the Grub menu select Advanced Options for Ubuntu and select the previous kernel. If that works as it should keep using it until another upgrade to the kernel fixes the problem.
