    Re: IRC Discussion

Ubuntu is in the process of moving all channels to librea.chat.
So, that decision has been made. But what about the question of whether to keep with IRC or use another type of communication method?

It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

    Never mind.

Handled well, it seems. Thanks for staying with IRC. Just need to get into my IRC bouncer and move those areas over to the new provider.

I have not seen anything official on that but I am pretty sure they would not go through the effort to move to the other network if they did not plan to stick with IRC, however I cannot say that for sure but they may add matrix or something like that so IRC can be used more easily.

    Re: IRC Discussion

i just checked and i am connecting via Quasse IRC to irc.ubuntu.com

so does that mean we don't have to do anything? or do we need to move some settings to connect to irc.libera.chat ?

I used the link posted earlier to aid my transfer to the Libera server.

I believe Canonical has been working on a process to do everything. The Forums Staff started getting ourselves switched over late last week.

    Re: IRC Discussion

We are in the process of getting our bots set up on Libera chat as we speak, and the CC, IRCC, and I have been keeping each other posted on how we're moving things forward. And once everything is finally ready and the move is ready to be official, we'll repoint irc.ubuntu.com to our new home on Libera.

    Thanks for the update madhens.

In case anyone else finds this thread, Ars did a pretty good article about this whole mess.
