Turn number lock off at boot

Please can anyone tell me how to configure my installation so that number lock is off at the login screen? There is no bios setting for this and according to "settings" it should fine, but its not. Second question, how to configure so that I don't have to re-enter my password after screenlock? Again the settings in Power management suggest that this should not happen, but it does NB: congrats to the Xubuntu team as this is to date the only Linux OS that will boot on this old Asus tower whose motherboard is ASUSTeK model: P8H61 PRO v: Rev X.0x, optimized for Windows. Thank you

Yes, it's turned off, but the issue persists.
