laptop dock compatibility

Hello
I have an aging Surface Pro gen 1, which I use for drawing, coding etc. I've been trying out Ubuntu which is so much faster on it.

The problem I'm having is is I need a laptop dock. The only ones which seem to output to a duel display are DisplayLink which I understand doesn't work with linux?

The only ports I have to use are;

• 1 x Full-size USB 3.0
• 1 x Mini DisplayPort

Is there any hope?

Finding Linux support for a Microsoft product can be a challenge.

I'm not sure what I'm reading there, I haven't used Ubuntu for a long time🤣.

I will problem solve as I hit the issues, so I'm sure it will come in.

DisplayLink is supported (with proprietary drivers).

I read so much online that said "stay away from displaylink and Linux". Then I found one which seemed to offer Linux drivers so I went ahead and ordered a secondhand one from Ebay to try it. Fingers crossed it works.
