    PPPoE Connection

    Folks,

    I have a TP-Link TD-W9970 modem router

In order to try and resolve some network issues I would like to reset my VDSL modem/router to a modem then connect just my laptop.

Setting the modem, no problem, I have done that but I've been unable to initiate a PPPoE connection from my Ubuntu laptop. Strangely, I can set up a PPPoE connection on the modem to connect to its own 'bridge' setup but that rather defeats the object.

Although I'd prefer to connect using command line the Network-Manager GUI allows setting up but I don't appear to have an option to actually connect with it.

Bearing in mind when in modem setup it is connected to the ethernet port on computer, is there then a simple command line option I can use?

Reading up on PPPoE and pppd the configurations seems extremely complicated merely to enter a username and password.

    Re: PPPoE Connection

After initial problems a connection via Network-Manager under the DSL/PPPoE option has succeeded.
