Hi, Guys and Gals
I am looking to be able to run the latest version of excel on Ubuntu, prefer not to dualboot or run Windows in vm. Can I do it with WINE or PlayinLinux? I am not sure if I need both, or other utilities. My laptop is an I7 with 16gb ram. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

POL is a graphical front-end for Wine. If you use POL to make things easier, you are using Wine in the background.
The best place to go to see if your application runs well is the app database at https://www.winehq.org/
Apps are rated from "garbage" to Platinum. But you have to bear in mind that your mileage may vary.
