Connecting Xbox Series X controller to Ubuntu Groovy Gorilla via bluetooth

Hello I am having big trouble connecting the Xbox Series X controller to Ubuntu via bluetooth. How does someone connect this new controller?

Unfortunately, this amazing controller does not work in Ubuntu so far. It does not work under Bionic Beaver/Focal Fossa/Groovy Gorilla/Focal Fossa/Hirsute Hippo.
It states "connected/paired" but the main xbox home button blinks endlessly. No connection at all. Disappointing.
